6th survivor found in Colombian plane crash

Medellin [Colombia], Nov. 29 (ANI): A sixth survivor was found under the aircraft's fuselage by the rescuers combing the wreckage of the charter plane that crashed on its way to Medellin's international airport, killing at least 76 people including members of the Brazilian first division soccer team Chapocoense, heading to Colombia for a regional tournament final.

Medellin [Colombia], Nov. 29 (ANI): A sixth survivor was found under the aircraft's fuselage by the rescuers combing the wreckage of the charter plane that crashed on its way to Medellin's international airport, killing at least 76 people including members of the Brazilian first division soccer team Chapocoense, heading to Colombia for a regional tournament final. Initially it was announced by the civil aviation agency that six passengers including three players, two crew members, and one journalist who survived the crash but authorities said that one of them died on the way to the hospital. According to a statement from Colombian aviation officials, an emergency was declared by the plane between the municipalities of La Ceja and La Union. "The crash took place in Cerro El Gordo near Medellin," CNN quoted officials, as saying. Chapecoense and the Colombian club team Atletico Nacional were to play in the first leg of the South American Cup Finals on Wednesday. The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) said in a statement that it has suspended all confederation activities following the accident. (ANI)
