200 operations conducted by Pak Punjab Rangers under Raddul Fasaad: ISPR
Lahore (Punjab) [Pakistan], Feb.25 (ANI): Pakistan's paramilitary Rangers have conducted 200 search operations across the country's Punjab province and arrested about 600 suspects, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement on Saturday. The ISPR said that the paramilitary force searched suspected houses, seminaries and shops before making the arrests. The military's media wing said the Punjab Rangers search operations were carried out under the recently launched Operation Raddul Fasaad. According to the media release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), "Punjab Rangers conducted over 200 search operations in various areas of Punjab including Karor, Layyah and Rawalpindi." "Few facilitators of Jamat-ul-Ahrar were also arrested," it claimed. The military's media wing also claimed that the Rangers have also recovered weapons as well as militancy related material. According to an earlier statement, the ISPR claimed that Radd-ul-Fasaad - which translates roughly to 'elimination of discord' - was aimed at indiscriminately eliminating the "residual/latent threat of terrorism", consolidating the gains made in other military operations, and further ensuring the security of Pakistan's borders. Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Civil Armed Forces (CAF) and other security and law enforcing agencies (LEAs) are supposed to participate in the operation. (ANI)
