Maiduguri [Nigeria], July 12 (ANI):At least 17 people were killed and 22 injured after Boko Haram terrorist carried out multiple suicide bombings in northeastern Nigeria's Maiduguri city. Four female suicide bombers detonated their explosives in Maiduguri, northeast Nigeria, police said on Wednesday. "Four suicide bombers attacked a crowded area of Molai, a suburb of Maiduguri city late Tuesday night,"Anadolu News agency quoted Damian Chukwuthe state police commissioner as saying . "The Boko Haram terrorists detonated Improvised Explosive Devices [IEDs] in the area killing themselves and 13 others," he added.Women and girls have frequently been used to attack security checkpoints, as well as civilian "soft targets" such as mosques, markets and bus stations. The injured include security volunteers,known as Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) militia. Boko Haram, a Nigerian militant group, has continued to attack soft targets in the country's northeast region.The Boko Haram insurgency has caused about 100,000 deaths since 2009 despite the insurgents losing most of their occupied territory they once controlled.
