Neil Gorsuch would have 'walked out of door' if Trump asked to overturn abortion
Washington D.C. (U.S.), Mar. 22 (ANI): Neil Gorsuch, American federal appellate judge on Tuesday said he would have walked out of the door and would not hesitate to rule against U.S. President Donald Trump if the latter would have asked him to overturn Roe v. Wade. Answering questions from senators during the second day of his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Gorsuch said Trump never asked him to overturn the 1973 Supreme Court ruling legalising abortion nationwide, saying if the Republican president had done so "I would have walked out the door," reports the CNN. Trump promised during last year's presidential campaign to appoint an anti-abortion justice who would overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling, which many conservatives want reversed. Gorsuch criticized Trump's attacks on the federal judge who blocked his administration's travel ban, saying for the first time publicly that he found them "disheartening" and "demoralizing". "When anyone criticizes the honesty, integrity, the motives of a federal judge, I find that disheartening, I find that demoralizing, because I know the truth," he said during his Senate confirmation hearing, in response to a question about the tweets from Sen. Richard Blumenthal. (ANI)
