Indian mission in Brazil hosts poetry event on eve of BRICS Summit in Goa
Brasila [Brazil], Oct.15 (ANI): The 10th edition of Cha com letras took place at the Embassy of India on the eve of the BRICS Summit which begins in Goa, India on October 15, 2016. Brazilian poets - Antonio Miranda, Lilia Diniz, ZeniltonGayoso and writer EdmilsonCaminha, graced the occasion. The attraction of the event was the presence of the eminent Indian writer and poet, Makarand R. Paranjape. On the occasion, poet Paranjape's bilingual book in English and Portuguese - Transit Passenger / PassageiroemTrânsito - was presented in Brasilia. The audience appreciated the efforts made by Abhay Kumar, Charge d'Affairesa.i. to use the opportunity to bring the writers and poets from Brazil and India together. Poems of MakarandParanjape about life in Brazil brought back fond memories of the Brazilian poet Cecilia Meireles' visit to India in 1953 and her poems written in India. Dr. Paranjape's collection of poems 'PassageiroemTrânsito' is inspired by his travel and stay in Brazil and is a personal reflection on how poetry informs and mediates the cultural ties between Brazil and India. On this occasion, poet and the Director of the National Library of Brazil, Antonio Miranda read poems of MakarandParanjape in Portuguese. (ANI)
