Birmingham: Police tasers 'knifeman' before arresting him

London [U.K.], September 15 (ANI): A man wielding a knife has been arrested in Birmingham City Centre, England on Friday, hours after the bomb attacks on a tube train in Parson's Green in London.

Cops swooped on the man who was allegedly wielding a knife near the HSBC in New Street.

The Police officers tasered him after shouting "drop the weapon" before discharging the stun gun, leaving the man splayed on the floor.

Video from the scene show the aftermath of the incident as officers point the yellow tasers at him.

Police confirmed the incident is "drug related."

Recently, on September 11, a preacher and two members of the congregation were injured in a stabbing incident at a church in Birmingham after they were attacked by a man with a knife.

Minister Kevin Hutchinson said that about 150 people were taking part in the New Jerusalem Apostolic Church's Sunday service when "a man with a knife stormed into our sanctuary"

Earlier, an explosion occurred on a Tube train at the Parsons Green Station, which was dubbed as a "terrorist attack" by the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command of London.

A major manhunt is underway after a rush hour blast caused by an improvised explosive device on a London Underground train injured 23 people.

None of the injured is thought to be in a serious or life-threatening condition, according to the London Ambulance Service.

The blast occurred at about 8:20 a.m. local time (3:20 a.m. ET) Friday at Parsons Green Tube station, a leafy stop on a busy commuter line from southwest London into the center of the capital.(ANI)
