Zimbabwe's new cabinet sworn in

Harare [Zimbabwe], Sep 11 (ANI): With an aim to revive country's economy, Zimbabwean President, Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday swore into office his new 20-member cabinet.
President Mnangagwa sacked decade-old ministers and constituted a cabinet comprising of new, old, experienced and youthful faces, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The former top official of the Africa Development Bank Mthuli Ncube has been appointed as the new Finance Minister, Xinhua Agency reported.
Ncube after taking the oath asserted that his priorities are to stabilise the economy, clearing the country's huge external debt, restoration of public confidence in the financial sector as well as addressing the current cash crisis.
"Ultimately, I would want to see the Zimbabwe dollar come back; the sovereign currency, a store of value, legal tender; there are several steps to take before that happens --build foreign currency reserves," Xinhua quoted Ncube as he told reporters after taking the oath of office.
Sibusiso Moyo who retained his position as the Foreign Affairs Minister said that Zimbabwe will continue with its engagement and re-engagement policy.
"All that we want is to ensure that we are friendly to all countries and above all our policy is Zimbabwe first in everything we do. But of course, there are compromises because every nation has its own firsts," he said.
However, there has been a surprise inclusion in the Cabinet as the country's most successful Olympian Kristy Coventry has been appointed as the Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts, and Recreation.
Apart from the ministers, Mnangagwa also swore-in into office 13 deputy ministers and nine provincial ministers. (ANI)
