Yemen: Houthi release sons of slain former President

Sanaa [Yemen], Oct 04 (ANI): Two of slain former Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh's sons were on Wednesday released from prison by Yemen's Houthi rebels.
"The sons of Ali Abdullah Saleh, Salaah and Madyan, were released upon an amnesty from the (so-called) President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat (top Houthi official)," a statement from the group was quoted by Xinhua citing a Saba news agency report.
The Houthi group had on December 4, 2017, killed their then-partner President Saleh as he sought peace with Saudi Arabia, who led the Arab coalition against the Houthi rebels.
The release of Saleh's sons came after a "mediation from Oman," a senior source in the Houthi told Xinhua, adding that they were being ferried in an "Omani plane to United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they would join their exiled older brother Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh in Abu Dhabi."
In September 2014, assaulted the capital city of Sanaa and controlled it along with of other northern cities, including the port city of Hodeidah, after they advanced from the northern stronghold of Saada.
This provoked military action from Saudi Arabia, who led the coalition and launched an aerial assault on the country in March 2015 to restore exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's government.
According to figures from UN aid agencies, at least 10,000 have been killed due to the war, with most of them being civilians, displacing a further three million. (ANI)
