Yemen: At least 30 killed after Saudi-led air strike hits wedding party

Riyadh [Saudi Arabia] April 23 (ANI): At least 30 people were killed after an air strike by the Saudi-led coalition hit a wedding party in Yemen late on Sunday night.

As per the media reports, the strikes were conducted by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen's northwestern province of Hajjah, as reported by the local authorities.

The warplanes twice hit the wedding ceremony. The further massive collateral damage took place as cars parked around the place and the adjacent buildings were destroyed due to the air strikes.

This is the latest in the series of militant attacks by Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Earlier on March 26, one person was killed and two others were injured in a ballistic missile attack launched from Yemen over Riyadh in Saudi Arabia by Houthi rebels.

The conflict in Yemen, which began in 2014, has claimed more than 100,000 lives so far. Saleh was overthrown in the ensuing conflict and had reportedly fled to Saudi Arabia for a while.

The fighting further intensified in 2015, when clashes broke out between Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi's government forces and Saleh loyalist forces.

The Saudi-led coalition forces, which is backed by the United States, has interfered in the conflict upon Hadi's request since then, and are carrying out regular airstrikes against the Houthi rebels. (ANI)
