Kathmandu [Nepal], March 28 (ANI): Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, who is on a two-day state visit to Nepal, met his counterpart Shanker Das Bairagi and held bilateral talks here on Thursday.

Gokhale also called on Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Foreign Minister, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on the first day of his visit.

During the bilateral talks, the two Foreign Secretaries reviewed all aspects of wide-ranging bilateral
partnership and exchanged views on regional and other issues of mutual interest.

"They expressed satisfaction at the substantial progress that has been achieved on bilateral projects and initiatives that were discussed and agreed to during the reciprocal visits of Prime Ministers of Nepal and India in April and May 2018," an official statement outlined.

They also agreed to maintain the momentum in bilateral engagement across diverse sectors of cooperation and to further strengthen India-Nepal relations.

The foreign secretary is in the Himalayan nation to review the progress made in the ongoing India-aided projects in Nepal.

Gokhale’s visit to Nepal comes a day before the Nepal Investment Summit 2019 is set to commence.

As per information from the Nepal Investment Board, a total of 602 participants from 38 different nations have confirmed participation. A total of 110 officials and investors will be from India.

In 2017, Nepal had organised the International Investment Summit on March 2 and 3, where India had committed USD 31,700 million for the reconstruction bid of Nepal.

This year, Nepal expects participation of about 1,000 officials and investors from various nations. (ANI)
