Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela's President

Caracas [Venezuela], May 23 (ANI): The newly appointed Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday ordered the expulsion of the top two US diplomatic representatives in Venezuela.
Maduro asked deputy head of mission Brian Naranjo and US charge d'affaires Todd Robinson to leave the country in 48 hours while declaring them "persona non grata."
This comes after Washington imposed economic sanctions making it harder for the Maduro regime to sell off state assets. The US described the whole re-election process a sham, as per Geo News.
The main opposition parties boycotted the election and got criticised by the international community.
We will present evidence to the country of the US' conspiracy in the military field, Maduro added.
In last eight years, Washington and Caracas haven't exchanged ambassadors and since the late leftist President Hugo Chavez, Maduro's mentor, assumed power in 1999, the situation between the two countries have been tensed.
On May 20, the Venezuelan President was re-elected for a second six-year term in presidential elections.
The results were announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE) president Tibisay Lucena, who also said that about 5.8 million votes went to Maduro.
President Maduro's term will end in 2025. (ANI)
