Doha [Qatar], Dec 17 (ANI): Turkey has rebuked leaders from the European Union (EU) for ignoring slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi's death at the Doha Forum on Sunday.
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu made the remarks at the conference and added that "many European countries who are promoting freedom of media, freedom of expression, are closing their eyes," towards the incident.
"President Erdogan has been so determined from the beginning to go to the end of this case, and to reach the outcome of the investigation," Cavusoglu further said, according to Al Jazeera.
The Foreign Minister also stated that it is up to the US and the EU to take action against the perpetrators. "They have also listened to the voice records... .now it is up to them. I am sure they have more information. They have all the intelligence, they have all the details," he said.
The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had also called for a "credible" investigation into the scribe's death at the event.
Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi regime, was a journalist who used to write for The Washington Post. He was killed on the Saudi consular premises in Istanbul on October 2 this year when he had gone to attend to official work at the consulate.
Investigations into the journalist's death are still ongoing both in Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Earlier, The Washington Post had reported that USA's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had come to a conclusion which put the blame on Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman for the journalist's death.
The US has since denied all reports with US President Donald Trump showing his vocal support for Saudi Arabia as the United States' "key allies". Saudi Arabia has denied all charges against it and has made arrests related to the case.
TIME magazine recently hailed Jamal Khashoggi as one of the 'Guardians of the Truth' who were bequeathed with the Person of the Year 2018 title by the publication. (ANI)
