Trump, Xi congratulate Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi

New Delhi/ China April 3 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Monday congratulated his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on his re-election.

New Delhi/ China April 3 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Monday congratulated his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on his re-election.

As per a statement by The White House the two leaders Trump and Sisi "affirmed the strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt".

They further noted that they look forward to advancing this partnership and addressing common challenges between the two countries.

Further, China's President Xi Jinping also sent a congratulatory message to Sisi on Monday.

"Jinping has kept close contacts with Sisi in recent years, and that he is pleased to see that mutual political trust between the two countries (China and Egypt) has kept deepening, bilateral pragmatic cooperation has kept advancing, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges have become more active" as reported by China's state-owned organisation Xinhua News Agency.

Jinping further said that he values China-Egypt bilateral relations and willing to enhance cooperative strategic partnership by bringing benefits to the people.

Incumbent Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was re-elected to the post for the second time on Monday after winning a massive 92 percent vote share on March 29.

Sisi's only challenger and al-Ghad Party chief Moussa Mostafa Moussa were able to get only three percent of vote share.

The official results, confirming the victory of Sisi were announced on April 2. (ANI)
