Three Other Large Earthquakes Hit Papua New Guinea - US Geological Survey

Moscow [Russia], Oct 11 (ANI/Sputnik): Three earthquakes measuring 5.7, 5.9 and 6.2 on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea late on Wednesday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Moscow [Russia], Oct 11 (ANI/Sputnik): Three earthquakes measuring 5.7, 5.9 and 6.2 on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea late on Wednesday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
At 20:48 GMT on Wednesday, the agency registered a 7.0-magnitude earthquake to the east of the northern city of Kimbe, located on the northeastern island of New Britain.
At 20:59, another quake was registered 113 kilometers (70 miles) to the east-southeast of Kimbe. The epicenter of the quake was located at the depth of 48.9 kilometers.
One more earthquake, measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 21:13 GMT 117 kilometers to the east-southeast of the same city with its epicenter being registered at the depth of 37.4 kilometers.
It was followed by a 6.2-magnitude quake 94 kilometers to the southwest of the city of Kokopo, located in the east of New Britain. Its epicenter was registered at the depth of 124.3 kilometers.
There have been no reports about casualties or damage caused by the quakes. (ANI/Sputnik)
