Swaraj interacts with Indian diaspora in Azerbaijan

Baku [Azerbaijan], Apr 5 (ANI): On the second day of her visit to Azerbaijan's capital city of Baku, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday met with the Indian diaspora living in the country.

Complimenting them for their important role in strengthening India-Azerbaijan relations, Swaraj said, "While the governments continue to do their work, it is you who are promoting India here. You are not only acquainting others with your culture but also including them in it."

At the Indian community reception, Swaraj interacted with the Indian diaspora and heard their experiences of living in Azerbaijan.

Swaraj also assured them that problems faced by them have been taken up with the authorities.

"When we come here, we don't just meet the Indian diaspora but we identify your problems before coming, and raise it a level above than what is required," she added.

The EAM received a warm welcome at the Indian community reception with colourful cultural performance by the members of the Indian diaspora.

Earlier in the day, Swaraj attended the two-day Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-Term Ministerial Conference, titled "Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development," and addressed the problem of terrorism that is plaguing international peace.

On Wednesday, Swaraj kicked off her maiden three-day official visit to Baku. (ANI)
