Washington DC [United States], May 11 (ANI): A suspect is in custody after a shooting was reported on Friday morning (local time) at a Southern California high school.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy Charles Moore the authorities were called to Highland High School in Palmdale at about 7:05 a.m. PT, CNN reported.
Palmdale is in Los Angeles County, about 40 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
Both Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the Palmdale Fire Department said they had received reports of shots being fired - the first coming around 7am local time.
The sheriff's office tweeted one suspect has been detained in connection to "the person with a gun...at Highland High school in Palmdale."

The school's principal took to Twitter, appealing people to stay away from the campus.
"Law enforcement is working to assess the situation," the message from Principal Chris Grado says. "Please stay clear of campus. Will update as soon as have more information."

Highland as well as three other schools in the local area have been placed on lockdown, according to several media reports.
An investigation is underway.(ANI)

Iran does not need sophisticated long-range missiles to defend this corridor; short-range missiles, torpedoes, and mines can easily sink high-value naval assets.

MEA rejects Pakistan’s statement on India-Canada deal

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
