Sri Lankan President's brother arrested for road accident

Colombo [Sri Lanka], Sept 10 (ANI): The Polonnaruwa Police have arrested brother of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in connection with road accident that killed a motor cyclist and his pillion rider on Saturday.

Sri Lankan President's brother arrested for road accident

Colombo [Sri Lanka], Sept 10 (ANI): The Polonnaruwa Police have arrested brother of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in connection with road accident that killed a motor cyclist and his pillion rider on Saturday.

The suspect Nanasiri Pagnaratne Sirisena, known as Lal Sirisena fled the spot after his car collided with the motor cycle but later surrendered to the Polonnaruwa police and identified himself as the driver of the car, the Colombo Page reported.

Nanasiri was produced before the the Polonnaruwa Magistrate Court which remanded him to a police custody till Monday.

According to the report, the police identified the two people killed as Buddadasa and Jayaratne Banda, who were living in Hingurakgoda.

The two victims succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital. (ANI)
