Colombo [Sri Lanka], Dec 21 (ANI): Sri Lanka is slowly moving out of the political crisis that engulfed the south-Asian island nation, as the new cabinet was sworn-in here on Thursday.
The 28 cabinet ministers of Sri Lanka's United National Front (UNF) government led by newly-elected Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe were sworn-in before Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat, reported the Colombo Page.
The number of cabinet ministers in the UNF-led government will be limited to as many as 30 portfolios. The Defense and Mahaweli Development and Environment Ministry portfolios are held by the President of the south-Asian island nation, in accordance to the constitution.
Wickremesinghe, who was ousted by Sirisena was reinstated as the Prime Minister earlier this week. The disputed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned from the office after two No-confidence motions were tabled and passed in the Parliament. (ANI)
