Seoul, [South Korea] May 12 (ANI): In connection with the issue of Korean unification doing rounds amidst the international community, South Korea's unification minister Cho Myung-gyun said that it is the right moment where denuclearisation can be easily achieved.
According to the Yonhap news agency, Cho termed this as a golden opportunity to bring permanent peace to the Korean Peninsula.
"Now is the golden opportunity to achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and establish a peace regime," said Cho.
He is worried about the fact that such an opportunity might not come again.
The Yonhap news agency further reported that the Unification Minister voiced optimism in regard to implementing agreements signed by the leaders of both Koreas during a summit held on April 27 where South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a joint declaration for a complete denuclearization.
"In preparation for the upcoming North Korea-U.S. summit, we will do our best to iron out any differences at various levels through dialogue between South Korea and the U.S., South and North Korea and South Korea and China," Cho said.
He also welcomed the recent release of three American detainees from North Korea, he said that the government will make efforts to bring home its own citizens held in the North.
This comes at a time when US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is scheduled to meet in Singapore on June 12. (ANI)
