St. Petersburg [Russia], Sep 21 (Sputnik/ANI): The Russian and the United States delegations at the World Trade Organization (WTO) held consultations as part of a Russian lawsuit against the United States over tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, but they have not brought results, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin said Friday.
"The standard procedure is that consultations are held first, their content cannot be divulged according to WTO rules, but I can say that these consultations have taken place, but they have not brought any results," Oreshkin told reporters on the sidelines of the 2nd Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg.
"This means that we will continue to move along a standard procedure that can eventually take even several years, considering the arbitration of the dispute itself, and then appeals and so on," the minister stressed.
The US introduced a 25-percent tariff on steel and a 10-percent tariff on aluminum imports, starting March 23, citing protection of its domestic producers as the reason. (Sputnik/ANI)
