US Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley

New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): US Ambassador to United Nations Nikki Haley on Thursday, referring to herself, said "this woman of Indian-origin is trying to survive the job assigned to her".
On being asked as to when India will get to see a woman of Indian-origin Republican run for higher office, Haley said, "So what I can tell you is a woman of Indian-origin is trying to survive the job she has right now and that's enough for me."
The US diplomat's statement comes at a time when speculations have been rife that her career is on a downfall and she is being sidelined.
"Haley is going through one of the roughest patches in her public career. Her star, which was burning so brightly in the first year of the Trump administration, is beginning to dim significantly in the second year," reported CNN.
Haley, who is on a three-day visit to India, arrived here on June 26.
Earlier today she met with External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj, and both the leaders held a discussion on various topics like UN reforms, counterterrorism and leadership roles of women in India.
Earlier on Wednesday, Haley met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, including on counter-terrorism.
Halley, who is the highest ranking Indian-American official in Trump administration, last visited India in 2014 when she was the South Carolina Governor.(ANI)
