Rare Liberation War documents go online ahead of 'Vijay Diwas'

Dhaka [Bangladesh], Dec 15 (ANI): A day before the 46th anniversary of Bangladesh's triumph against Pakistan, the Liberation War e-Archive Trust has posted some rare documents online for the public.

According to the Dhaka Tribune, a good number of rare documents on the War of Liberation in 1971 have been uploaded on a website.

Speaking about releasing the documents for public, Liberation War e-Archive Trust Founder and Director Sabbir Hossain said, "We are collecting various documents on the War of Liberation from different libraries and archives of the USA. The work is underway to post more documents online in future".

Till now, the readers had to struggle to get the different records and documents of the Liberation War, said Trust Chairman Shanta Anwar, adding, "We are working to make the information and records on the war easily accessible to the people".

According to the statement given during release of the documents, since its inception in 2007, the Liberation War e-Archive has collected different records, write-ups, articles, research papers, newspapers, books, lists of freedom fighters, photographs, audios, video footages, documentaries and movies on the Liberation War.

India and Bangladesh have geared up to celebrate Vijay Diwas, which is commemorated every year to mark both the countries' military victory over Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.

In order to keep alive the spirit of War of Liberation of 1971, an arrangement of reciprocal visits by Muktijodhas and War Veterans was institutionalised in 2005. (ANI)

MEA rejects Pakistan’s statement on India-Canada deal

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
