Protesting Pashtuns demand public hanging of Pervez Musharraf

Peshawar [Pakistan], Apr 8 (ANI): Over 1,00,000 Pashtuns held a rally in Peshawar on Sunday against the Pakistani state-sponsored terrorism in Pashtunistan and demanded public hanging of retired Pakistan Army General and former president Pervez Musharraf.

The protestors also demanded international community to intervene in the war crimes against Pashtuns in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Waziristan.

In the three-hour long rally, 'Pashtun Long March to Peshawar,' people chanted 'Azadi' (freedom) slogans.

The rally organised by the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. amassed hundreds of families whose sons, husbands, daughters and mothers were abducted by Pakistan Army and its intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

"Today's #PashtunLongMarch2Peshawer jalsa was huge. Pashtuns have told the state and the world that all of them are supporting #PashtunTahafuzMovement. People traveled from all over the country to attend it. This caravan for peace will go until the demands are met," one human rights activist, Nargis Afsheen Khattak tweeted.

The gathering was part of Pashtun Long March, a protest movement led by young Pashtuns FATA, where they have long been the targets of military operations, internal displacement, ethnic stereotyping and abductions by the security forces. (ANI)

MEA rejects Pakistan’s statement on India-Canada deal

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
