PoGB: Astore residents lament inadequate infrastructural development, highlight their sufferings

Residents in Balochistan's Zehri and Surab regions are facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to a four-day curfew and military operations. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee reported acute food shortages, blocked healthcare access, and alleged house raids by security forces, urging international bodies to investigate these fundamental rights violations.

The UAE has activated air defences to intercept an Iranian missile and drone attack, advising residents to "remain in a safe location." Authorities have intercepted over 1,700 threats since the conflict began. While most were neutralised, hostilities have tragically caused six deaths and 131 injuries among various nationalities.

Bahrain has advised residents in several areas to "remain in their homes" and "close windows" following a major blaze in Muharraq Governorate. The Ministry described the move as a "precaution against potential effects of smoke" after Al Jazeera reported an Iranian strike on local fuel storage tanks.

The procession, which took place on Wednesday at Revolution Square and moved toward the Shrine of the Martyrs in southern Tehran, was attended by many residents joining the ceremony to pay tribute to those killed in the strikes.

A curfew imposed in the Zehri area of Balochistan's Khuzdar district entered its fourth consecutive day, severely disrupting daily life, mobility and economic activity in the region. Residents said the continued restrictions have forced markets, transport services and commercial centres to remain closed, effectively paralysing normal activity.

In the statement addressed to "fellow compatriots," Pahlavi warned that the situation had reached a highly sensitive point and urged people to prioritise their safety while maintaining unity through peaceful means of resistance.

Exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi praised the heroism of Iranian protesters and urged the military to join the people following the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as Supreme Leader. Pahlavi supported US-Israeli efforts to dismantle the regime's "infrastructure of terror" while accusing the leadership of using civilians as human shields.

In a blog post analysing the crisis, Choudhry argued that the unrest cannot be explained solely by reactions to international events. He said the intensity of the protests also reflects long-standing political grievances among residents of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Although restrictions have now been partially eased, the situation in the region remains tense. Daily wage labourers have been among the worst affected, as many rely on day-to-day earnings to support their families. During the strict curfew, residents expressed frustration over the closure of markets and the difficulty in accessing essential supplies.

Bahrain activated sirens and urged citizens to seek shelter following an Iranian drone attack on civilian targets, including a desalination plant. The strike in Sitra caused casualties, including children. Meanwhile, President Pezeshkian denied seeking conflict with neighbours, while rejecting Donald Trump's demand for Iran's "unconditional surrender."
