Kathmandu [Nepal], June 22 (ANI): Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that political parties hold the key to development, prosperity and good governance as they not only steer the present political course of a country but also shape its future direction.
While addressing the programme organised by Central Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing, Oli said, "Political parties hold the key to development, prosperity and good governance, and they are the lead actors. They not only steer the present political course of a country but also shape its future direction, he said.
The theme of the programme was 'Role of Political Parties in Governance and Prosperity.'
Oli, who is on a six-day official visit to the People's Republic of China, made this remark on Thursday.
During his speech, Oli focused on four main aspects- the role of party school in generating innovative ideas, role of political parties in ensuring governance and achieving prosperity, Nepal's own experiences in pioneering revolution and championing the cause of prosperity and socialist movement in the global context, Kathmandu Post reported.
On Thursday, Oli flagged off a 'Friendship Run' between Nepali and Chinese students, at an event held at Beijing Sports University, which was organised to display the cooperation between the people of the two countries.
The Nepali community living in Beijing said that the friendship race was the first of its kind to be held in China, and added that such activities would deepen Nepal-China friendship at the people-to-people level.
On June 20, Oli said the two countries will continue to work together for common development and everlasting peace and prosperity.
He also said both Nepal and China are committed to take forward the agreement to develop the cross-border railway infrastructure in a spirit of mutual trust, friendship and understanding, and close co-operation and collaboration.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by his wife Radhika Shakya, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barshaman Pun, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth, Chief Adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal and other government officials.
