New Delhi [India], Dec 12 (ANI): Reacting to comments made by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, New Delhi on Thursday said that he should pay attention to the condition of minorities in his own country instead of commenting on internal matters of India.
"Don't think we need to respond to every statement of Pakistan PM. All his statements are unwarranted, he should rather pay attention to the condition of minorities in Pakistan than comment on internal matters of India," the MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said while addressing a press conference here.
Referring to the blasphemy laws of Pakistan, the MEA spokesperson stressed that discrimination is imbibed in the Constitution of the neighbouring country.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier today, in a series of tweets criticised India over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill from Parliament.
The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill has been passed by Parliament, with the Rajya Sabha giving its nod on Wednesday night.
On Monday, Lok Sabha had approved the Bill which seeks to grant Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Zoroastrian communities fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014. (ANI)
