Balochistan [Pakistan] February 14 (ANI): New allegations of enforced disappearances have surfaced from different districts of Balochistan after security forces carried out a series of raids, families stated, according to a report by the Balochistan Post.
Residents of Hub Chowki said personnel entered houses in the Gulshan Amirabad area late on the night of February 8, and detained several people. Witnesses described door-to-door searches and said a number of men were taken away without any formal explanation regarding where they would be shifted, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
According to The Balochistan Post, relatives named four brothers, Abdul Rab, Mohammad Rahim, Abdul Razzaq and Abdul Malik, all sons of Juma, among those picked up. The family said they trace their roots to Mashkay Nokjo and were visiting or residing in the locality at the time of the raid. Family members further claimed that younger relatives were also seized. They identified Shahzaib, son of Abdul Rab; Jahangir, son of Mohammad Rahim; and Noroz and Shahmeer, sons of Abdul Razzaq, as being among those detained. Another man, Dad Shah, son of Fazal Karim, was likewise taken during the operation.
The families alleged that women and children present in the houses were manhandled, an accusation frequently levelled in past operations but difficult to independently verify in the absence of official statements. In a related development, the affected relatives said Fazal Karim whom they described as affiliated with the police department, had earlier been taken from Khuzdar. His son Nawaz, also presented as a government employee, was reportedly detained, while Dad Shah was picked up in Hub Chowki, as highlighted by The Balochistan Post.
Separate reports from Noshki district suggested that a large contingent of forces moved into Killi Jamaldini and nearby settlements. Locals claimed the neighbourhoods were sealed off, homes were searched one by one, civilians were allegedly beaten, and mobile phones were examined, as reported by The Balochistan Post. (ANI)
