Pakistan tightens grip as Noshki faces prolonged curfew

Balochistan [Pakistan], March 31 (ANI): The town of Noshki in Balochistan has remained under an extended lockdown for nearly two months, severely disrupting everyday life, education, and livelihoods, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
According to The Balochistan Post, locals stated that strict movement restrictions continue to be enforced. Residents are reportedly barred from leaving the city after 6 pm and are not allowed entry before 9 am, limiting access to work, healthcare, and other essential services.
Students, particularly those commuting from nearby rural areas, have been among the worst affected. Delayed entry timings have led to missed classes and ongoing interruptions in academic activities, raising concerns over long-term educational setbacks.
In another development, a middle school situated along the main highway in Killi Ghareebabad has allegedly been repurposed as a camp for security personnel. This has reportedly forced several students to discontinue their studies at the institution, further compounding the education crisis in the area.
Residents have also voiced concerns over reported curbs on civil liberties. Motorcyclists have been subjected to frequent checks, with some alleging harassment and mistreatment during security operations.
Tensions escalated following a reported incident in which security forces allegedly opened fire on two individuals riding a motorcycle toward a picnic spot outside the city.
One of the individuals sustained serious injuries and was later shifted to Quetta for treatment. Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the matter, as highlighted by The Balochistan Post.
The curfew comes amid heightened security tensions in the province, following renewed activity by the Baloch Liberation Army, which recently announced "Operation Herof Phase II." Amid growing unease, local political and religious groups have called for consultations to address the situation.
Civil society members continue to urge authorities to relax restrictions, restore educational access, and respond to mounting human rights concerns, as reported by The Balochistan Post. (ANI)
