Pakistan: Govt takes over control of JuD, FIF headquarters in Punjab province

Punjab [Pakistan], Mar 07 (ANI): Days after Pakistan proscribed Hafiz Saeed's Jama'at-ud-Da'wah (JuD) and Falah-i-Insaniat (FIF) Foundation, the government of Punjab province on Thursday took over the control of headquarters of JuD and FIF in Punjab province, reports Dunya News.
The measures were taken during the implementation of the National Action Plan. 
This crackdown comes a day after the governments of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab have taken administrative control over or sealed several establishments run by the terror groups.
A seminary, hospital and two dispensaries, run by JuD, in Rawalpindi were sealed, while the Sindh government has taken administrative control of 56 facilities run by the groups, including schools, hospitals and madrassas.  
Recently, the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) rapped Pakistan for its inaction on terror funding and money laundering.
Meanwhile, the Financial Monitoring Unit has issued 8,707 suspicious transaction reports (STRs) in 2018, as compared to 5,548 STRs issued in 2017 in Pakistan.
Furthermore, around 1,136 STRs have been issued in January and February alone this year.
Pakistan is taking actions as it is left with no choice but to comply with the 10-point action plan of FATF, demonstrating that it understands the terror financing risks posed by the terrorist entities listed above.
They further need to prove that terror financing prosecutions lead to effective, proportionate and dissuasive sanctions. It also has to show an effective implementation of targeted financial sanctions against the 1,267 and 1,373 UN-designated terrorists.
If Pakistan fails in accomplishing the objectives laid out by the FATF and curbing funding for terrorism, it may be put on the blacklist by FATF by September this year. (ANI)
