Pak NAB requests Interior Ministry for travel ban on Nawaz, Maryam

Islamabad [Pakistan], Feb 14 (ANI): Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday formally requested the Ministry of Interior to place the names of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar's on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The anti-graft watchdog dispatched two letters to the ministry, one asking for Nawaz Sharif to be placed on ECL citing him being an accused in the Azizia Mills case, Flagship case and Avenfield properties case, Geo News reported.

In the second letter, it requested to place Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her husband Captain (retired) Safdar to on the ECL as both are accused in the Avenfield properties cases.

The development came a day after the Sharif family filed an application with the accountability court seeking a fortnight's exemption from personal attendance from February 19 onwards on grounds that the former first lady's treatment, Kulsoom Nawaz, is in final stages and the family needed to be with her in London.

Earlier in the day, the bureau filed supplementary references against Sharif and his sons - Hussain and Hassan Nawaz - in Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment cases.

New evidences gathered against the Sharif family have been made a part of the supplementary cases.(ANI)
