Islamabad [Pakistan], May 10 (ANI): Pakistan on Wednesday expressed its disapproval over United States President Donald Trump's decision to leave the Iranian nuclear deal, after various other international leaders condemned the move.
As reported by The Tribune, Pakistan's Foreign Affairs office released a statement saying that the country is upset with Trump's administration unilateral move over the nuclear deal.
"Pakistan believes that International treaties and agreements concluded through painstaking negotiations are sacrosanct" the release read.
The release further stated that such an action would undermine the confidence of international communities in such treaties.
"Arbitrarily rescinding such agreements will undermine confidence in the value of dialogue and diplomacy in the conduct of international relations and the peaceful resolution of disputes," it added.
The statement further read that Pakistan believes the Iranian deal, formally known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), represents a very good example of a negotiated settlement of complex issues, through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Foreign office further expressed its concern that the deal to not get scrapped entirely.
"We have noted the willingness of the parties to the Agreement to work together on upholding their respective commitments as stipulated in the JCPOA, despite US decision to withdraw from it," the statement further said.
The United States President Donald Trump's decision can have implications on Pakistan as the latter has close defence bilateral agreements with Iran.
It shall further impact the gas pipeline project between the Pakistan and Iran.
United States President Donald Trump announced his decision of withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal on Wednesday, citing the deal failed to protect America's national security interest.
He further said to sign a presidential memorandum to begin reinstating US nuclear sanctions on Iran. (ANI)
