Pak diplomat calls on international community to stop Islamabad's support to Taliban

Kabul [Afghanistan], August 3 (ANI): Pakistani diplomat Husain Haqqani has called on the international community to not ignore Islamabad's terrorist activities, urging them to stop the country from supporting Taliban and other terrorist groups.
In an interview with CNN on Sunday former Pakistan diplomat Haqqani asked why the international community ignored the fact that Pakistan was behind the Afghan war for several years?, reported Afghanistan Times.
Earlier, Haqqani served as Pakistan's ambassador to the United States and Sri Lanka. He clarified that Islamabad has been supporting all terrorist activities in the region.
According to Haqqani, Pakistan is still backing the Taliban and has established tens of terrorist groups with the aim of weakening India, reported Afghanistan Times.
The veteran Pakistani diplomat said that terrorism is a clear part of Pakistan's foreign policy while its powerful army fully focuses on establishing and training terrorist groups.
He criticized the United States for not doing well to make Pakistan stop supporting terrorist activities, warning that if the situation goes on as it is now, Afghanistan would soon turn to the field for bloody conflicts.
Haqqani said that the Taliban keep close ties with Al-Qaeda terrorist network and the United States is aware of that. He called on the US to take practical measures to end this situation.
Moreover, the Afghan government led by President Ashraf Ghani has ratcheted up attacks on Pakistan for aiding the Taliban, which Pakistan vehemently denies.
Ghani had lambasted Pakistan for not severing its ties with terrorist organisations groups and said that according to intelligence reports over 10,000 'jihadi' fighters had entered Afghanistan in the last month.
He added that the Imran Khan-led Pakistan government had failed to convince the Taliban to "negotiate seriously" in the ongoing peace talks.
Afghan foreign ministry earlier said that the Taliban have intensified their violent campaign across Afghanistan and their military offensive was supported by Pakistani notorious spy agency - Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Pakistan military was reportedly assisting the Taliban in setting up training camps in Eastern provinces of Afghanistan and also in recruitment.
Despite ample evidence that suggests the contrary, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that his country was neither "responsible" for the actions of the Taliban.
A UN report said that terrorists from a variety of countries and militant groups continue to operate in Afghanistan.
The 28th report of the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team said that Pakistan-based terror group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has maintained ties with the Taliban as about 6,000 of its terrorists are on the Afghan side of the border (ANI)
