Oprah Winfrey advises 2020 US presidential candidates

Washington DC [United States], Mar 12 (ANI): Prominent American talk show host Oprah Winfrey has some pearls of wisdom for the 2020 US presidential candidates.

In an interview with CNN's Van Jones on "The Van Jones Show," airing on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, she stated, "I will say to whoever is going to run for office, do not give your energy to the other side."

"Do not spend all your time talking about your opponents. Do not give your energy to that which you really don't believe in. Do not spend an ounce of your time on that," she added.

Winfrey, who has ruled out running for office in 2020, also took the occasion to underscore that "the noise about running for president moved me so humbly and deeply," adding that "It means that you have somewhere in the work gained the people's trust."

According to media reports, earlier in January, Winfrey fans lit up Twitter with calls for her to run for president in 2020 against US President Donald Trump after she gave an inspiring speech at the Golden Globe awards show in support of those who have exposed sexual misconduct.

She put a full stop to any queries emerging about a potential 2020 bid for the presidency, saying with the conviction that she was "definitely not running".

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Winfrey in response to host Kimmel's question about whether she would run had said, "Where do I look into the camera? I am definitely not running for president."(ANI)
