Jean-Claude Arnault

Stockholm [Sweden], Oct 02 (ANI): The French photographer, Jean-Claude Arnault, who has close links to the Swedish Academy and was embroiled into controversies for sexual assault, was convicted. The 72-year-old has been sentenced to two years in prison for rape, reported CNN.
A Swedish Court found the photographer guilty of the rape that dates back to 2011.
Arnault had two charges of rape, however, he was cleared on the second charge of the sexual assault.
Between 1996 and 2017, around 17 women had come forward to accuse the photographer of sexual misconduct.
Katarina Frostenson, an academy member and Arnault's wife had also stepped down following the sexual misconduct behaviour against him.
In the wake of these serious allegations, the Swedish Academy had postponed the 2018 award until next year, when it will name two winners, making this the first time since World War II that the panel decided not to bestow one of the world's most revered cultural honours. As the academy is responsible only for the literature award, other Nobel Prizes remain unaffected. (ANI)
