Nepali PM asks for international community's support for development

Kathmandu [Nepal], Feb 19 (ANI): Nepali Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Monday asked the International community to help to make the new development goals a grand success.

While addressing the nation on the 68th Democracy Day, the very first Prime Minister of Nepal after the adaptation of the federal governance, stressed on proportional development, ruling out absolute development as a hindrance for constitutional implementation.

"We have arrived at this point by overcoming various obstacles, averting adverse situations and defeating the then absolute rulers. The time which we have gained now is not possible through absolute development and hinders the constitution we have adopted," the Prime Minister asserted.

"I appeal all native, well-wishers and the foreign countries to come participate and help in the development move (of Nepal)," Oli said.

Security forces and police personnel marked the day with a public march in Tundikhel on Monday.

Nepal, sandwiched in between India and China, has long gone through political instability, which was marred by Maoist insurgency for over a decade.

India, with whom Nepal shares a commonality in every mode of daily life, has helped the Himalayan nation in the time of difficulties.

The Democracy established in Nepal in 2007 was also the result of Indian mediation, marking the end to absolute Rana rule.(ANI)
