Nepal polls: 'Identity' becomes main agenda for agitating parties

Kathmandu [Nepal], November 24 (ANI): In Nepal, the Rastriya Janata Party- Nepal (RJP-N) has made the issues of identity, rights and respect its main agenda in the upcoming Provincial and Parliamentary elections.

The party, which has laid its focus on the Province no. 2 with candidacy in all parts of the country, has promised to continue its fight for the identity, location, rights and self respect.

The long time agitating party went for the final round of local elections in September after the government committed to take the amendment bill for further deliberations.

It is now taking part in the second round of Parliamentary and Provincial election that is scheduled for December.

"We will make the constitution complete, ensure the inclusion, guarantee the citizenship and linguistic rights. We always have been committed to the development of the Madhesh and the Tharuhat," RJP-N's press note stated quoting Mahanta Thakur, the co-coordinator of the manifesto drafting committee.

Also, the RJP-N has announced a compensation of five million rupees each to the families of those who lost their lives during Nepal's Madhesh Movement.

"It is sure that the state government under the leadership of RJP-N will be formed after the polls in province no. 2 and the provincial government will give 5 million rupees to the family of deceased as compensation," another leader Rajendra Mahato has been quoted as saying in the RJP-N's press note.

Nepal, which recently held the local elections in three rounds, is scheduled to hold the elections for the Parliament and the Provincial Council in November and December.

The first round of Parliamentary and Provincial elections will be held on Sunday in the high-lying districts. (ANI)
