Nepal NHRC delegation meets Indian counterpart

New Delhi [India], Jan 10 (ANI): A four-member delegation from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Nepal on Wednesday visited the NHRC, India in New Delhi.

The delegation of Nepal, led by its NHRC Chairperson Justice Anup Raj Sharma and including Commissioner, Mohna Ansari met Justice H.L. Dattu, Chairperson, Ambuj Sharma, Secretary-General and senior officers of NHRC, India and shared the best practices being followed in both the NHRIs.

The Nepal delegation also extended an invitation to Justice Dattu to participate in a South Asia Regional Conference being organised by it in Kathmandu from 9th - 11th April 2018 to facilitate a regional dialogue on identifying challenges in realizing human rights in South Asia.

The Conference also aims at sharing good practices in the promotion and protection of human rights and to create a foundation for strengthening the functioning of NHRIs in the region.

The Nepal delegation requested NHRC, India to extend all possible support to it in organizing this International Conference.

The Conference will have representation from the NHRIs in the SAARC region besides Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, academicians and activists working on human rights. (ANI)
