N Korea criticises US for 'anti-republic' plot

Pyongyang [Korea DPR], Nov 26 (ANI): North Korea's state media slammed the United States for its "anti-republic" plot against the country, mentioning that the US would always find faults with North Korea, even if they fully denuclearised.
"The U.S. is saying that the nuclear issue serves as a hindrance to North Korea-U.S. relations, but even if the issue should be resolved, it would continue to take issue with human rights and come up with other additional conditions so as to force us to change our system as it requires," the North Korean ruling party's official mouthpiece, Rodong Sinmun, stated.
"The U.S. is trying to draw concessions from us in talks and even to accomplish a wicked anti-republic plot," the newspaper mentioned, according to Yonhap News Agency.
These comments come in the wake of a report released by Human Rights Watch which claims widespread abuse against women in North Korea, including sexual offences like rape.
A resolution that has been adopted by a United Nations (UN) panel points out human rights violations in the country and is touted to be passed in the UN General Assembly (UNGA) next month. This will be the 14th successive year that the UN will pass this resolution.
Talks between the two nations have been stalled for a while now, with rising animosity between the countries.
North Korea has been demanding an ease of sanctions from the US' end in the wake of its efforts towards denuclearisation, including the destruction of a nuclear site Punggye-ri in May this year.
The United States, on the other hand, has reiterated that they will be reinforcing sanctions against the reclusive state, leading to a stalemate between the nations.
US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo had also cautioned South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who is known for the revival of 'Sunshine Policy' towards North Korea, to exercise caution and not let inter-Korean relations develop faster than North Korea's denuclearisation. (ANI)
