Malaysia's former King Muhammad V

Kuala Lumpur [Malaysia], Jan 7 (ANI): A special meeting will be convened on January 24 to elect the 16th King of Malaysia, after Muhammad V resigned on January 6.
The decision was taken during a meeting held on Monday in the wake of the 15th 'Yang di-Pertuan Agong's' resignation, according to the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.
Today's Conference of Rulers was attended by a host of royal families including the King of Terengganu - Mizan Zainal Abidin, Sultan of Johor - Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Perak - Nazrin Shah and Sultan of Kedah - Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah amongst others, Malaysia'a state media, Bernama, reported.
Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy, which has nine royal families. The families take turns to elect the King through a vote in the Council of Rulers.
The 15th King, who resigned yesterday, had served the country from December 13, 2016, until January 6, 2019. (ANI)
