Leftist alliance is a threat to nation: Nepal PM

Kathmandu [Nepal] Oct. 31 (ANI): Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has termed the leftist alliance, as threat to nation, while unveiling the manifesto of the Nepali Congress.

"The country now is in dangerous stage. The forces against the democracy have united as one," Prime Minister Deuba said targeting the recent coalition agreement between the Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and the Maoist Center (MC).

He claimed that only the Nepali Congress will be able to save the nation from grave threat and appealed the voters to vote for it claiming it to be the biggest democratic force in the nation referring various political movements over the time.

Deuba, who is also the President of the Nepali Congress, made the claims while addressing the manifesto unveiling program organized in Nepal's Sanepa area in Lalitpur district on Tuesday.

The Nepali Congress (NC), which has lashed out the Maoist Centre's (MC) alliance with the CPN-UML, has also termed MC as the "opportunist" in its manifesto. It has thrown flak at the party for its lust for power.

"CPN-UML previously termed the Madhes movement as a protest for disintegration and issued inappropriate comments against Madhesi people." The manifesto reads.

Apart from it, NC has come forward with ambiguous plans of economic development and generating more employment opportunities.

It also highlighted the progress achieved till now since its formation.

Nepal held its local election after a gap of nearly two decades and now it is heading for provincial and parliamentary election in November and December in two phases. (ANI)
