KP Sharma Oli to be sworn in as Nepal PM today

Kathmandu [Nepal], Feb 15 (ANI): Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Thursday appointed Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) Chairman KP Sharma Oli as the country's next Prime Minister.

According to The Kathmandu Post, Oli will be sworn in as Nepal's 41st Prime Minister at 4 p.m. today.

Earlier today, Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba resigned from his post, paving the way for the CPN-UML Chairman.

The left alliance leaders had visited President Bhandari to present majority to appoint Oli as the Prime Minister.

As per the constitution of Nepal, promulgated in 2015, the process of new government formation starts after the formal submission of election result to the President by the Election Commission.

After the incumbent government is dissolved, the new government under the leadership of Oli will take over; thereby forming the very first government of Nepal after it started the practice of federal governance. (ANI)
