Tokyo [Japan], Sep 26 (ANI): Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has shown his willingness to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Abe wants to meet Kim to discuss the long-standing issue of Japanese citizens kidnapped by North Korea.
Meanwhile, the North Korean media also called on Japan to apologise and compensate for the exploitation of the island country when it was colonised by the latter. Japan had colonized the Korean peninsula from 1910-50.
The call came amid increasing talk of a probable summit between Pyongyang and Tokyo aimed at improving bilateral relations between the two nations.
It is to be noted that North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho is currently in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly and that there are speculations that he could meet with his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono there. (ANI)
