New Delhi [India], May 09: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday stressed that the Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy.
"India has always maintained that the Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy by respecting Iran's right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy as also the international community's strong interest in the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program," MEA official spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a statement.
"All parties should engage constructively to address and resolve issues that have arises with respect to the JCPOA," the statement added.
United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or Iran nuclear deal.
President Trump further called the Iran nuclear deal as "defective," adding that Washington would reinstate sanctions against the Islamic republic.
"President Trump is terminating the United States' participation in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran and re-imposing sanctions lifted under the deal," the White House tweeted.
The Iran nuclear deal was signed between six countries in 2015 - Iran, the US, Britain, Germany, Russia, France and China for lifting economic sanctions on Tehran in exchange for limitations to the country's nuclear programme. (ANI)
