Indonesia firecracker factory fire: Death toll rises to 47

Jakarta [Indonesia], October 26 (ANI): The death toll in Thursday's fire at a firecracker factory in Indonesia rose to 47. It is expected to rise further.

Tangerang-based firecracker factory on the outskirts of Indonesia's capital of Jakarta caught fire presumably due to short circuit.

Witnesses stated that there were two explosions which could be heard miles away, media reports said.

All the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The factory had been operating since the last two months.

Although the factory had a permit, its proximity to a residential area was against regulations, reported Indonesia's MetroTV, quoting a local official as saying.(ANI)
