Indonesia: Christian couple caned for gambling

US President Donald Trump signalled a sharp escalation in cross-border trade friction on Monday, declaring that Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier should be banned from selling its jets in the United States unless the company shifts manufacturing operations to American soil. 

Indian Overseas Congress Chairman Sam Pitroda has hit out at the Union Government, alleging that the conversation by them was centred around hate and not on core issues like education.

"You ask people from Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist communities and others how they feel in India today, and you have the answer. It's one thing to say we respect everybody and then turn around and beat somebody... You (Bhagwat) don't mean what you say, and you don't say what you mean. It's nice to say all this, but is it really true in action? Actions speak louder than your words," Pitroda said.

According to The Express Tribune, speaking at a press conference at the Faisalabad Press Club, activists criticised the decision to hand her custody to the man accused of abducting her. They warned that placing the minor in the custody of the alleged perpetrator could leave her vulnerable to further intimidation, abuse, exploitation and coercion.

Amir Masih, son of Emmanuel Masih, was arrested on 11 August 2026, which coincided with Pakistan's National Minority Day. According to the police record, FIR No. 1189/26 was registered at Police Station Nowshera Virkan under Sections 295-A, 295-C and 298 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
