Sushma Swaraj

Luxembourg City [Luxembourg], June 20 (ANI): External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj underscored that the relationship between India and Luxembourg is trust-based, stemming from "respect for freedom, democratic principles and rule of law."
"Ours is a trust based relationship that stems from our respect for freedom, democratic principles and rule of law. In India Luxembourg is admired for versatility of steel sector, its picturesque countryside and the sophistication of its FinTech sector," External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj said while addressing the Indian community and prominent citizens of Luxembourg at a community event at the Museum of Modern Art in Luxembourg on Tuesday.
Swaraj, who arrived in Luxembourg on Tuesday, is on a week-long four-nation visit to Italy, France, Luxembourg and Brussels.
With this, she became the first external affairs minister from India to visit the European country.
On her arrival, in her first engagement she addressed the Indian community.
"By opposing the embargo against India following our peaceful nuclear test of 1998, Luxembourg demonstrated the trust it has in India as a responsible nuclear power," she added.
Luxembourg had opposed embargoes against India in the aftermath of the nuclear tests of 1998.
This year, India and Luxembourg are celebrating 70 years of establishment of their diplomatic relations.
"I bring with me the good wishes of the government and the people of India," she added.
Swaraj arrived here for a two-day visit from France where she met the top French leadership.
During her stay here, Swaraj will call on Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri Albert Gabriel Felix Marie Guillaume and Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. (ANI)
