'India ready to provide relief assistance as required by Nepal'

Kathmandu [Nepal], April 2 (ANI): India has become the first nation to show concern over the loss of human and infrastructure due to the thunderstorm that struck the southern plains of Nepal on Sunday.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and damage to property in Nepal following the devastating thunderstorm that struck Bara and Parsa districts of Nepal. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost their dear ones, sustained injuries or suffered damage to their property,” a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, India read.
The Indian Government has also shown readiness in the relief assistance to the Himalayan nation.
“Government of India is ready to provide relief assistance as may be required by Nepal. Our Embassy in Kathmandu and Consulate in Birgunj are in touch with the concerned authorities,” the release added.
The devastating Nepal rainstorm, which swept the districts of Bara and Parsa, has claimed the lives of 35 people as of Tuesday, according to Province 2 Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Gyanendra Kumar Yadav.
The Province 2 government has announced a compensation of three lakhs to the next of kin for the victims of Sunday's rainstorm along with announcing free treatment for the injured victims.
The victims who lost their homes to the storm were forced to sleep out in the open on Monday, even though the central and local authorities scurried to provide the affected with tarpaulins and temporary shelter for protection.
