Jakarta [Indonesia], May 30 (ANI): India and Indonesia on Wednesday agreed to promote cooperation in academics, science and technology.
The two sides affirmed to promote "cooperation between Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and National Institute of Aeronautics and Space of the Republic of Indonesia (LAPAN) in monitoring earth's environment from outer space and remote sensing of the earth," read a joint statement issued after one-on-one talks and a delegation-level meeting between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Through the joint statement, both President Joko Widodo and Prime Minister Modi also agreed to develop research capacity and transfer marine technology among research and development institutions and academics.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi, who is on a five-day visit to South-East Asia, flew kites along with the Indonesian President at a Kite exhibition in Jakarta. The two leaders also visited at Istiqlal Mosque here.
Prime Minister Modi, who is on a three-nation tour to Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, reached Jakarta last evening.
The aim of the visit is to enhance India's relations and engagements with all the three countries, which forms Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). (ANI)
