India embassy at the United States

Washington DC [US], June 22 (ANI): The Indian Embassy in US has established contacts with two immigration detention centres at Oregon and New Mexico where a considerable number of Indians are detained for illegally entering the country.
The Indian Embassy, in a statement, said that they were monitoring the situation.
"A consular official has visited the detention facility in Oregon and another one is scheduled to visit the detention facility in New Mexico. We are monitoring the situation," the statement read.
As per media reports, several members of the South Asian community have been stranded at the US border including a large number of Indians.
It is pertinent to mention that, US President Donald Trump yesterday reversed his Zero Tolerance policy by signing an executive order to end the separation of immigrant families on the US-Mexico border.
President Trump took the decision after facing huge backlash against the move to separate children from their parents who illegally enter the country. (ANI)
