Imran to contest election from Karachi's NA-243 constituency

Islamabad [Pakistan], June 15 (ANI): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary board gave tickets to candidates from Sindh province for the National Assembly, on Thursday.

Islamabad [Pakistan], June 15 (ANI): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary board gave tickets to candidates from Sindh province for the National Assembly, on Thursday.
Earlier, it officially announced that PTI chairman Imran Khan would be contesting the election from NA-243 (Karachi East).
Imran Khan will now, contest from NA-243 Karachi East-II constituency comprising areas of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Jamshed Quarters and Karachi East, according to Dawn.
The total number of registered voters in the constituency is 695,588.
The PTI had previously announced 24 candidates from Sindh. It withheld the announcement on the remaining seats due to internal disputes on some of the constituencies.
Imran Khan will be contesting against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)-Pakistan's, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and former deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
On June 12, Imran Khan's nomination papers, filed from NA-243 Karachi, were challenged.
Citizen Abdul Wahab Baloch filed an appeal against Imran Khan's candidature with a returning officer over the Sita White case.
The verdict on the petition filed against Imran's candidature will be announced on June 19.
The court has postponed the scrutiny of Imran's nomination papers till June 19, which is also the last date for the process.
The PTI chairman has submitted nominations from National Assembly constituencies in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, and Mianwali.
The electoral symbols will be issued to candidates by June 30 and polling will be conducted on July 25. (ANI)
